Why Counselling?

Counselling can often feel scary, but people see counsellors for many different reasons. Maybe you or your child is facing difficulties in their life. Maybe you or they feel sad, angry, isolated, have low self-esteem or confidence, or are suffering from anxiety but don’t really know why. There might be arguments within the family, or you or your child might be finding it hard to deal with a family break up or a bereavement.

Counselling provides you with the space to be able to help you cope and deal better with things. It provides you with the opportunity to explore these feelings and experiences in a safe space, without judgement. It is normal to feel nervous and anxious the first few times you attend your counselling session but as the sessions progress, we build on our therapeutic relationship together which forms trust and understanding.

Initially we will have an assessment together which will take 50mins to complete. Then your sessions will be held at the same time weekly either in person or on zoom depending on what you have chosen for your counselling.

All young people under the age of 16 must have permission from their parent/carer. Those over 16years it is desirable that you have informed and discussed with your parent/carer that you would like to attend counselling. If this isn’t something you feel comfortable with, please still contact me and we can discuss further.
